We’re looking for a Senior Commercial Counsel to join our team! In this role, you’ll pair meticulous legal drafting and deft negotiation skills with top-notch project management to execute strategic commercial agreements for teammates across all departments. We’re looking for someone excited about providing commercial support to further our mission of connecting the world through movement. You’ll work with cross-functional stakeholders, users, our community, and vendors. Come join a low-ego, high-impact in-house legal function, where you’ll report to Strava’s Deputy General Counsel, Corporate and Commercial.
We follow a flexible hybrid model that generally translates to around half your time on-site in our San Francisco office— roughly three days per week.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:
- Be responsible for providing practical day-to-day commercial legal support to the Strava for Business team, including negotiation of our sponsored challenge agreements
- Support cross-functional teams on negotiation of a wide variety of vendor, partnership, consulting, data protection, API and licensing agreements.
- Work with various global teams on a range of special projects that require legal support, including marketing and Strava Metro initiatives
- Develop and maintain enablement materials including legal playbooks, FAQs, training, and self-service materials for our cross-functional partners
You will be successful here by:
- Relentlessly focusing on execution and results in a fast paced environment
- Looking for ways to say “yes,” but understanding when to say “no”
- Comfortably managing a high volume of commercial agreements and shifting priorities with efficiency, precision, and a sense of urgency
- Proactively spotting potential issues and taking initiative to resolve them, understanding that “nothing is somebody else’s problem”
- Bringing professionalism without ego—taking your work seriously but not yourself, enjoying a good laugh, and thriving in a supportive, team-first environment
We’re excited about you because:
- You find innovative, practical solutions to complex contracting challenges, balancing risk tolerance with business objectives
- You love to negotiate a good deal and advocate for and protect the interests of the business
- You can clearly distill complex legal concepts into actionable guidance and influence at all levels of the organization
- You have 6+ years of experience in commercial negotiations and contract drafting
- You have a mix of top law firm and in-house experience at a multinational, consumer-facing technology company
