We’re looking for a Public Policy Lead focused on the UK and EU to join as a founding member of Strava’s Public Policy team! In this role, you’ll shape our UK and EU policy strategy by engaging with policymakers, government organizations, nonprofits, and other external parties. You’ll navigate complex public policy challenges in areas such as consumer protection, privacy, and content moderation—all while helping us advance our mission to connect the world through movement.
This role reports to the General Counsel and is hybrid based in our London office roughly 3 days per week.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:
- Drive Policy Strategy. Research and analyze UK and EU policy proposals and legislation relevant to our product and mission, delivering timely insights and recommendations to internal teams.
- Engage with Policymakers. Represent Strava in meetings, public forums, industry coalitions, and other external settings to build relationships and shape policy discussions around relevant topics, such as privacy and content moderation.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams. Partner closely with Legal, Comms, and Product to ensure that policy considerations are integrated into our products and operations, as well as our external messaging.
- Advocate for Our Community. Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and articulate positions that support our community’s interests while aligning with our core values and business objectives.
You will be successful here by:
- Turning policy insights into actionable initiatives that influence product, comms, and business decisions.
- Exercising sound judgment to provide clear policy guidance in a rapidly changing regulatory environment.
- Using data and analytics to inform policy strategies, identify potential impacts, and evaluate the effectiveness of advocacy efforts.
- Communicating across diverse teams and senior leadership to gain buy-in on policy initiatives and drive forward-thinking solutions.
- Proactively spotting potential issues and taking initiative to resolve them, understanding that “nothing is somebody else’s problem.”
- Bringing professionalism without ego—taking your work seriously but not yourself, enjoying a good laugh, and thriving in a supportive, team-first environment.
We’re excited about you because:
- You have 5-8 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.
- You’re deeply familiar with at least one of the following: privacy, consumer protection, tech regulation, content policy, or social media governance.
- You’re skilled at distilling complex policy matters into actionable advice for diverse audiences, from engineers to executives to policymakers.
- You have a proven track record of influencing and persuading others using strong judgment and political acumen.
- You have the ability and desire to travel frequently across the UK and EU to represent Strava’s interests.
