- Risk Management: You provide leadership in identifying design, schedule, cost, quality, and reliability risks and proactively work with other staff to quantify or qualify these risks, enabling timely decision-making for the project’s benefit.
- Technical Expertise: You provide detailed technical information on all aspects of rotating equipment at the request of other project disciplines.
- Project Support: You are dedicated and accountable to the Project Manager/Director and Plant Design Line Manager, supporting design processes to ensure the delivery of a complete design package as per the agreed schedule.
- Reporting Structure: You report operationally to the Project Engineering Manager and functionally to the Plant Design Line Manager, maintaining single-point accountability for overall equipment design.
- Specification Development: You contribute to the development of project specifications, bid packages, and work execution packages.
- Coordination: You coordinate external partners and EPC Contractors throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to schedule and technical quality while becoming familiar with Climeworks’ expectations, scope, budget, and schedule.
- Engineering Support: You support the EPC Mechanical Engineering group in producing the FEED, detailed design, mechanical deliverables, and studies.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: You collaborate with the project team on equipment design, site preparation activities, technical bid evaluations, construction work packages, document reviews, commissioning package support, and vendor shop inspections.
- Operations Interface: You interface with Operations and Maintenance to identify and resolve cross-boundary issues effectively.
- Procurement Support: You prepare material requisitions for rotary and static equipment and provide technical support throughout the procurement process, including conducting vendor clarification meetings.
- Execution Team Participation: You work as part of the execution project team to support other engineering disciplines such as piping design, facilities, and systems for Direct Air Capture plants.
- Design Reviews: You actively participate in P&ID reviews, HAZOPS, design reviews, value engineering, and other independent reviews as necessary.
- Quality Assurance: You work within the provisions and guidelines of the Climeworks Quality Assurance systems.
- Health & Safety Compliance: You are responsible for personal safety and adherence to Climeworks Health & Safety procedures.
- Construction Support: You provide on-site construction support as needed.
- Technical Specification Development: You support the development and continuous updating of in-house technical specifications for various equipment, ensuring alignment with the latest international standards and technological advancements.
- Education: You hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Industry Experience: You have worked on at least one project in the chemical, petrochemical, or renewables industry as an Owner or Owner’s representative across all post-project phases (FEED, Detailed Design, Construction, Commissioning, and Start-up).
- Mechanical Engineering Expertise: You have at least 10 years of experience in process plants as a mechanical rotating equipment engineer, working with API and ASME static equipment such as heat exchangers, columns, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and packaged auxiliary equipment. Preference is given to candidates with experience in operating units as a maintenance or operating engineer.
- Technical Standards Knowledge: You have at least 10 years of experience working with API standards, ASME/ANSI standards, Hydraulic Institute documents, and Power Test Codes.
- Equipment Inspection: You are familiar with identifying mechanical static equipment inspection and testing plans.
- Rotating Equipment Experience: You have at least 5 years of experience working with API and ANSI-type rotating equipment and associated auxiliary equipment, including seal plans, lube oil systems, control schemes, maintenance requirements, and operating procedures.
- Testing & Spare Parts: You have at least 5 years of experience in rotating equipment inspection, spare parts evaluation, and testing protocols for new rotating equipment.
- Project Deliverables: You have at least 10 years of experience reviewing or creating project deliverables such as technical bid evaluations, technical deviations, materials of construction selections, and project decision records.
- Innovation & Technology: You have demonstrated the ability to initiate and champion new technologies and evaluate project opportunities.
- Presentation Skills: You have experience presenting to executive audiences and EPC contractors.
- Leadership & Interpersonal Skills: You possess excellent organizational leadership, interpersonal, and technical skills.
- Travel & Licensing: You are eligible to travel and work in the USA, and a driver’s license is required for business travel.

Salary: At Climeworks, salary ranges are assigned to a job based on the level of seniority and the location specific market median of similar jobs according to external benchmark surveys. Individual compensation depends on your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the team.
