As a Financial Product Manager you will play a critical role in driving the success of Kraken billing initiatives by combining strategic thinking, product management expertise, and data-driven decision-making. As a Billing product manager you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of billing processes, ensuring accurate billing for different types of clients across various markets.

What you'll do- Strategy Development: Work closely with different stakeholders across the business (delivery, sales, other product teams etc.) to define and refine the product strategy ensuring it meets business objectives and regulatory requirements across different markets.This involves understanding customer needs, market trends and operational challenges.
- Product Development: Oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of processes and systems, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency for different types of clients. Closely collaborate with engineering, delivery and designers to enhance the product capabilities and address evolving market needs.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Design and monitor status dashboards, identify trends, inefficiencies and potential risks together with engineering. Use data-driven insights to improve accuracy, reduce errors and enhance the overall customer experience. Share regular reporting with key stakeholders.
- Technology Evaluation: Stay up-to-date with relevant technologies, automation tools and industry best practices. Assess new solutions to enhance product accuracy, efficiency and compliance. Manage relationships with external vendors and technology partners where relevant.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other teams within the organisation, including delivery, sales, engineering and other product teams across the company. Act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
- Delivery Solutions & Implementation: Own the successful delivery of solutions, ensuring they are implemented effectively and meet business needs. Proactively follow up with stakeholders, track progress and confirm solutions are working as expected. Support configuration for specific client requirements, address any gaps and oversee a smooth handover.
- Day-to-day activities
- 1. Planning and Strategy:
- Review billing objectives, KPIs and regulatory requirements across different markets
- Analyse customer needs, operational challenges
- Work closely with the engineering lead from your product team to plan next week, month, quarter and beyond
- Work with stakeholders from delivery, sales and other product teams to ensure alignment on billing priorities, business goals and other team’s dependencies
- 2. Product Management:
- Oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of billing processes and systems such as charge creation or issuance of billing documents etc.
- Collaborate with other teams to define product requirements and priorities
- Conduct user testing and gather feedback to refine billing workflows and improve the customer experience.
- 3. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Monitor billing performance across your product team, identifying inefficiencies, risks and opportunities for improvement not only for your team but across the financial group
- Work with engineering teams to analyse billing data and drive accuracy, reduce errors and optimise processes.
- Share insights and regular reports with key stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making.
- 4. Stakeholder Communication:
- Provide regular updates to internal teams, including finance, sales, operations and engineering, ensuring transparency on billing developments.
- Collaborate with clients to learn and enhance billing solutions
- Act as the link between business teams and technical teams, translating needs into clear product requirements.
- 5. Delivery and Implementation:
- Drive the successful implementation of billing solutions, ensuring they are delivered on time and meeting business needs.
- Follow up with stakeholders to track progress, address issues, support specific configurations and confirm solutions are working as expected.
- Work closely with delivery teams to refine and optimise billing processes post-implementation.
- 6. Continuous Improvement:
- Conduct post-implementation reviews to ensure we’re building the right solution for our clients
- Gather feedback from internal teams and stakeholders about the functionality of the billing system
- Inform future billing strategy and product improvements in roadmaps to relevant stakeholders
What you’ll need- Proven experience in a product role within a product-led company, with a track record of successfully developing and releasing operational processes and systems
- Strong strategic thinking, have a growth mindset and vision-setting abilities, with the capability to align product strategy with business goals and market dynamics.
- Deep understanding of Product Management methodologies, agile development practices and user-centred design principles.
- To be able to work in an ambiguous, dynamic environment, and be comfortable with uncertainty and constant change. Experience in a fast-paced start-up or scale-up would be a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse, global teams and influence decision-making at all levels of the organisation.
- To be curious and a great listener - fantastic ideas come from everywhere in Kraken Technologies, so you’ll need to be able to spot and harness them.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact with people with varying levels of technical knowledge. Fluency in English is a must, Japanese is a nice to have
- Nice to have: Experience in financial systems (eg. billing, payments or debt management) particularly in managing complex operational processes within these domains.
